Research has found that “communication would improve if health professionals learned to listen to the Aboriginal and Torrres Strait Islander story, and let it shape the structure of their own biomedical perceptions” (Cass et al, 2002). This is the final year for the Rural Palliative Care project and it is whittling away very quickly. The focus is on completing current works and providing a sustainability lens to all the work done.
Thanks to a brilliant idea from Dr Colin Crook, a palliative care booklet has been developed for GPs when managing palliative care for patients. Dr Crook, Dr David Bromley, Claire McKenna (GRPCC) and Jade Odgers (GRPCT) provided the expert assistance needed to produce this quality publication.
I am pleased to announce the employment of the first nurse practitioner candidate for Ballarat Health Services.
