GPs wanted - Baarlinjan Medical Clinic
Are you needing a change or wanting to increase your session hours? We would be very pleased if you were able to offer us some session times.
At the Baarlinjan Medical Clinic we specialise in Aboriginal health care, but service the wider community with all health needs. We offer a range of services that are designed to deliver health programs in a holistic and culturally appropriate manner. All consultations are bulk billed, and due to the complexity of many of our clients we offer longer appointment times.
The Baarlinjan Medical Clinic has grown very quickly over the last few years with increased client numbers, new programs and additional services. We have a very supportive team made up of many diverse roles.
We currently have 4 doctors covering 15 sessions; practice nurses; mental health nurses; aboriginal health workers; drug & alcohol counselling and a psych. services aboriginal liaison officer; all working from the clinic each day.
In addition, our team is well supported by visiting allied health services: psychologist (weekly), primary mental health clinician (weekly), child & adolescent mental health clinician (weekly), podiatry (fortnightly), dietician and diabetes educator (monthly), and australian hearing (monthly).
In the coming months our clinic extension will be completed, and with the changes in office space we will be setting up a client gym, exercise area and massage services. We currently run an aboriginal 'LIFE' program and smoking cessation clinic.
The additional session hours we need covering are:
Monday 9.00 – 12.30
Tuesday 9.00 – 12.30 (full day may be available)
Thursday 9.00 – 12.30 (full day may be available)
Friday 9.00 – 12.30
The clinic pays an hourly rate. Salary sacrifice is available.
Our organisation provides cultural awareness training for all non-indigenous staff, and has a very supportive work environment. We would welcome anyone who might be interested in the job to come and visit our medical clinic. Our doctors (Dr Penny Roberts, Dr Jim Cannon, Dr Bernie Fensling, Dr Carol Head) would be happy to chat about their experience and share any insights they might have.
Anyone interested in this opportunity is welcome to phone Katrina Hishon (5331 5344 ext2) for further information or to speak with her in person.
